Biography
Mochtar Apin was a painter, illustrator, writer, and art educator at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). He is known for his cubist and abstract expressionist style. He received scholarships to study at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris (1953–1957) and the Deutsche Akademie der Künste in Berlin (1957–1958), as well as a Cultural Award from the Australian government in 1974.
