Biography
Abdul Aziz was born in Purwokerto, Indonesia, on 27 March 1928. After graduating from the Indonesian Fine Art Academy (ASRI) in 1959, he continued his studies at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome, where he developed a lasting interest in printmaking and the techniques of old masters, especially etching.
Returning to Indonesia in 1965, Aziz settled in Ubud, Bali, where he painted scenes of local life infused with European influences. Known for his focus on women as central figures, he also gained recognition as a sculptor, violinist, and violin maker.
