Biography
Ida Bagus Made Poleng (1915–1999) was born in Tebesaya, Bali. He studied painting under Rudolf Bonnet and was influenced by Dutch artists active in Bali during the early 20th century. As a member of the Pita Maha artists’ association, he contributed to the development of modern Balinese art. His works are known for their refined depictions of daily life and mystical interpretations of religious themes, reflecting both spiritual depth and cultural nuance.
In recognition of his artistic achievements, he received the Wijaya Kusuma Art Award and the Dharma Kusuma Award from the local and provincial governments. His paintings are held in prominent collections, including the Bali Art Center and Painting Gallery, as well as the Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam.
