Chrisna Banyu
B. 1990
Chrisna Banyu is a visual artist from Yogyakarta, Indonesia, known for his deep commitment to drawing, illustration, and narrative-based visual art. He holds both undergraduate and master’s degrees in Fine Art from Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta.
Active in the contemporary art scene since the late 2000s, Chrisna's work is shaped by a blend of personal expression and experimentation with diverse media. His projects often explore themes of culture, identity, and social reflection. He has exhibited widely in Indonesia and internationally, including in Hong Kong, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Mexico.
Chrisna has been a finalist in the UOB Painting of the Year (2016) and won 1st prize at the Biennale Parallel Event Khodja Djawa (2012). He has also participated in prestigious residencies in Mexico and Indonesia, solidifying his role as an articulate and engaging voice in contemporary Indonesian art.
