Don Bosco Laskar Betelgusa
B. 1998
Don Bosco Laskar Betelgusa is a contemporary artist and graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta. Active in the dynamic Yogyakarta art scene and abroad, particularly across Asia, he uses art as a medium of hope, working in a distinctive deformative pop style inspired by daily life, spirituality, and emoticons, often incorporating plants, animals, and familiar objects.
Primarily using acrylic and spray paints, sometimes with mixed media, Don has held solo shows including Superhero Dreams (Singapore, 2023) and AROUND ME (Yogyakarta, 2021), and joined over a hundred group exhibitions worldwide, from Jakarta and Seoul to Amsterdam and Kuala Lumpur. His works have appeared in ArtJog, STRAAT Museum (Netherlands), and Affordable Art Fair Malaysia, earning recognition in competitions such as JICAF and the Tino Sidin Museum Painting Contest. Through his vibrant imagery, Don explores themes of spirituality, identity, and optimism.
