Ajar Ardianto
B. 1989
Ajar Ardianto is a Yogyakarta-based visual artist known for his compelling sculptures. A graduate of the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta with a major in Sculpture, Ajar explores the intersection of memory, everyday objects, and cultural transformation.
He works with materials like polyester resin, found objects, cement, and wood to create pieces rich in symbolism. His notable series, such as Techno: Primitive and Vernacular Relief, fuse post-industrial imagery with organic forms to offer a social critique.
Ajar's dedication has earned him several awards, including Emerging Artist at UOB Painting of the Year (2014), Best Artwork at the Basuki Abdullah Art Award (2019), and Established Artist at UOB POY (2025). His work has been exhibited at prominent spaces like the National Gallery of Indonesia and Museum MACAN, with one piece now in the permanent collection of the Basoeki Abdullah Museum.
